Mother’s Day Gift Guide
Mother’s Day is a special day to celebrate the women who have raised us and invested in us. Now that I’m a mom, I have a deeper appreciation for the hard and spiritual work of mothering. I’m thankful for my own mom, grandmothers, and the other moms in my life who are seeking to follow and honor Christ in this endeavor. Below are some fun gift ideas to celebrate and encourage the Christian mom in your life.
Bible Study: Truth Adorned
Truth Adorned: Pursuing Life’s Deeper Purpose
When holidays, birthdays, or other special occasions arrive, I love to give the gift of studying God’s Word. Titus is a book of the Bible often recommended to women, because of the famous Titus 2 passage on discipleship (for women AND men!). When studied in its context, there is so much depth to the discipleship and church relationships that stem from a love for and appreciation of the Gospel of grace. I wrote this study on Titus a few years ago, and I’d be honored if you gifted it to your mother this Mother’s Day!
Books:
If you’re familiar with my website, then you won’t be surprised that I’m recommending several books on this post! I encourage you to purchase the titles below at your local bookstore.
Treasuring Christ When Your Hands are Full by Gloria Furman
There are many devotionals and books on motherhood that are marketed towards Christian women around mother’s day; often, however, these lack Biblical depth and theological precision. I appreciated this book, which uses Biblical truth to point mothers to Christ in the difficult moments of motherhood. This book will challenge a mother to grow deeper in her relationship with Christ, while offering a true Biblical refreshment as she reflects on her savior.
Set Apart Motherhood by Leslie Ludy
For the mother who would appreciate a more practical read that is also full of Biblical encouragement, gift this short book on God’s design for motherhood! I found this book encouraging, yet grounding for moms who may be in overwhelming or stressful seasons (moms of littles, anyone?!).
Honey for a Woman’s Heart by Gladys M. Hunt
Does your mom love to read? Gift her this book that is both an exploration of the joys of reading as well as recommendations for books that promote truth, goodness, and beauty. I recently read this and my reading list grew by almost one hundred! It’s an enjoyable, comforting read that is appropriately named.
House Rules by Myquillyn Smith
This is my favorite decorating book! It’s a beautiful addition to your mom’s coffee table with gorgeous photos of the author’s home. Don’t be deceived by the word “rules” in the title; these aren’t generic home decor rules, but very helpful tips that guide you to personalize your home and environment to create a home that will stand the test of time.
Other Ideas:
MAMA embroidered sweatshirt
My friend Joanna sells hand embroidered items from her Etsy shop; how cute is this lilac “Mama” crewneck sweatshirt? I love the little daisies! Purchase it on Etsy here. (If you’re shopping for a craft-loving mom, or looking to DIY your own gift, check out her stick & stitch hand embroidery stickers.)
Milestone Coffee
There’s nothing like a great cup of coffee, and the mom in your life might appreciate the chance to sit and enjoy it! Milestone Coffee is a coffee roasting company started by my college friend Tatiana and her husband. Their coffee is delicious and would make an excellent choice for a Mother’s Day gift (pair with a cute mug!). You can ship this product or, if you’re local to NEPA, choose a pickup option.
Clay Earrings
My own mother sells handmade clay jewelry at a local store. Her facebook page will give you an idea of the gorgeous earrings she makes; if you’re local to NEPA, you can purchase these in person (find more information here). Clay earrings are lightweight and very fashionable; this would be a special gift of jewelry for your mom!
